Answers to the Questions We Get Most Often

1. What do "Educational Activities" refer to?

Educational activities refer to the in-person or online Courses, Workshops, and Seminars offered by UNIPANT for the current Academic Year.

In-person activities take place in a classroom, generally at the UNIPANT headquarters, unless otherwise specified.

Online activities are held via streaming, allowing everyone to attend conveniently from their own home or wherever they prefer.

Should the instructor agree, the face-to-face lesson can be live-streamed and recorded. This is available for members who miss the class because they are ill, travelling off-island, or for any other temporary reason.

You can ask your instructor to record the in-person lesson and then make it available for you to watch later.

Certainly! Informal and Non-Formal Education allow everyone to learn even if they haven’t completed school, specifically to bridge the cultural gap and stimulate new interests and knowledge.

UNIPANT is a Popular University, not a University of the Third Age (Senior University).

Everyone can enroll at UNIPANT, including teenagers and children, provided there are activities relevant to them. The majority of our activities are aimed at adults aged 18 and over, but many courses also accept younger students. Please ask for more information.

The social and cultural mission of UNIPANT is paramount.

A portion of our educational and cultural activities are free of charge because they are sponsored or financed by third-party organizations, making them open to everyone.

Conversely, activities that require a contribution are reserved for members and are used to cover expenses such as rent, utilities, and the materials and services we provide to them.

The activities have a minimal hourly cost, usually around €6.50 per hour, sometimes less. This pricing strategy is intended to make our activities accessible to everyone, including those facing financial difficulties.

The total cost varies depending on the number of hours the course or workshop requires per month. Please check the costs on the non-formal and informal educational activities page.

Generally, the total cost of an activity is listed, but if the course lasts more than six weeks, monthly installment payments may be available.

For Seminars (if they are not offered for free), the following applies:

  • The total cost is listed if the seminar is a series of linked sessions.

  • The cost per session is listed if it consists of one or more standalone, monographic appointments that can be attended individually.

In any case, these fees are considered donations in exchange for lessons. As such, if paid using a traceable method (bank transfer or PayPal), they may be tax-deductible.

The Teaching Materials needed for the course are provided entirely free of charge by UNIPANT.

If students, in agreement with the instructor, choose to purchase additional material, they will cover the cost themselves.

The Duolingo for Schools App or other partner apps and materials are only for students enrolled in the relevant Language courses.

At the first in-person lesson, every student will receive a STARTER KIT. This kit includes a notebook, a pen, a folder, and any useful extra items for the course as a welcome gift.

Altra opzione valida:

During the first in-person class, each student will be given a STARTER KIT. It contains a notebook, a pen, a folder, and any other extra materials needed for the specific course, all as a welcome from us.

The reason for payment (causale) must clearly state: UNIPANT MEMBERSHIP YEAR 202…

A liberal disbursement (erogazione liberale) is a donation of money, movable goods, or real estate, made with a pure spirit of generosity.

The Third Sector Code provides that a taxpayer may deduct an amount equal to 30% of the financial contributions made in money or in kind to Third Sector Entities from their gross personal income tax. The total amount of such contributions in any tax period cannot exceed €30,000.

This tax benefit is granted for cash donations, provided that the payment is made using banks, post offices, or other traceable payment systems.

This means that an individual who decides to donate a sum of €100 to a Third Sector Entity can claim a tax deduction of 30%, or €30, in their tax return.

The Third Sector Code also stipulates that disbursements (donations) in money or in kind made to Third Sector Entities by individuals, organizations, or companies are deductible from the net total income of the donating entity, up to a limit of 10% of the total declared income.

The Legacy Gift (lascito solidale) is the subject of a will (specifically, a solidarity will) in which a person decides to leave their assets, or a portion thereof, to one or more non-profit organizations.

It is a simple and non-binding act that does not in any way infringe upon the rights of one’s relatives and family members. It also allows the beneficiary organization to receive the entire legacy thanks to an exemption from inheritance taxes.

The difference between a donation and a legacy gift lies in when the assets are effectively received by the beneficiary. A donation provides immediate support to the non-profit’s projects and initiatives, while a legacy gift through a will contributes post-mortem to the long-term support and continuity of the organization and its projects.

To draft a solidarity will, you can use any of the forms of wills provided for by law.

To include UNIPANT in your will, you should include the organization’s identifying details. For all the correct information regarding the process, and to learn more about our activities and projects, please contact us via email at: info@unipant.it

1. What types of activities do you offer for free?

The educational, training, cultural, or outreach activities that we offer free of charge are those that receive third-party funding. An example of this is the PANTESCHITÁ Project, which was submitted to the Municipality of Pantelleria for the Participatory Democracy Calls.

The free activities are open to all citizens.

Absolutely not. Membership to UNIPANT is only mandatory for activities reserved exclusively for members.

If the activities are funded, a free donation may be requested in specific cases (for example, if the funding is not enough to cover all project expenses).

If, on the other hand, the activities are fully covered by UNIPANT, the organization reserves the right to ask participants for voluntary donations.

Certainly. Contact the activity organizers on site to get all the information on how to do so.

1. Who can participate in the Erasmus+ study trips?

The study trips are reserved for adult members.

No. You only need to submit an application to the Secretariat and ensure your membership is current.

If your application is accepted, you will be required to participate in a pre-departure course. After the trip, you will be asked to complete a project related to the objective(s) of the study trip.

It is highly recommended that you know the English language and are currently attending one of our courses as a student.

UNIPANT instructors are given priority in the selection process.

The trips are fully funded by the Erasmus+ Project.

A contribution may only be requested from participants if additional activities—not included in the initial program or not previously agreed upon—are added.

No, you cannot. Participants must stick to the schedule they receive. Attendance is mandatory for all lessons and for the cultural and social activities.

he study subjects are inherent to the accredited Erasmus+ project. If you are only interested in the location and not the subjects offered, it is best not to participate.

The fundamental spirit of the project is not to visit a specific country, but rather to study something abroad, learn new methodologies and knowledge, exchange experiences, discover new tools, and develop new strategies to be used within UNIPANT and on the island of Pantelleria.

Certainly, there will always be a member of UNIPANT accompanying every group, in addition to teachers and staff members.

Any special requirements, including those related to health, nutrition, disabilities, phobias, etc., must be communicated to UNIPANT at the time of enrollment for the trip.

This allows us to evaluate the feasibility of the exchange and to agree upon and organize suitable arrangements for everyone’s stay abroad.
